The Sportsmetrics Advantage
Sportsmetrics is a scientifically proven six-week training program that incorporates proper stretching, special plyometric exercises, and high-intensity weight training. Conducted under clinical supervision, it focuses on developing overall leg strength as well as improving balance and strength from the front to the back of the thigh. Through a specific progression of plyometric drills, athletes learn proper techniques for jumping and landing, increase overall leg strength, improve right-to-left power symmetry, and improve vertical jump height.
Sportsmetrics was developed by Dr. Frank Noyes and the clinical research staff at the Cincinnati SportsMedicine Education and Research Foundation. This non-profit research center develops, tests, and optimizes methods for the prevention and treatment of orthopedic injury. Prevention and treatment methods are rigorously tested in large research studies, which are critically analyzed by the scientific peer review process. Candidate knee injury prevention training methods do not become part of the Sportsmetrics program unless efficacy is statistically supported.
Sportsmetrics USA is a clinical education organisation which conducts training and certification programs enabling local communities to set up and conduct sports injury prevention programs. Physical Therapy of Los Gatos is one of only two Clinical Sites in Northern California certified by the Cincinnati Sportsmedicine Research and Education Foundation to provide the Cincinnati group's proven six-week program for reducing the risk of ACL injury.
